Emily Lessard is an award-winning Creative Director focused on creating compelling work that is responsive to content and audience.
She is currently the Chief Creative Officer of Bellweather, a creative and marketing agency for ambitious clients.
Prior to Bellweather, Emily was the Senior Vice President of Creative at NYC & Company, the advertising and marketing agency for New York City. She led the award-winning rebrand for NYC & Company across all channels—from look and feel, to voice and imagery—in advertising, digital, and print. She also provided the creative strategy for all campaigns, including the creation of the enormously popular “See Your City” brand, Welcome campaigns at NYC airports, as well as the Taylor Swift Global Welcome Ambassador partnership.
Prior to NYC & Company, Emily was the Design Director for the Aperture Foundation. During her time there she led a multi-channel rebrand that touched on every aspect of the organization. This included a new logo, brand guidelines, and a complete website relaunch. She also designed over a dozen books and exhibitions, built the publication "The PhotoBook Review," oversaw the redesign of "Aperture" magazine, and the design of over 50 photobooks.
Her work has received accolades from Adobe, AdWeek, the AIGA, the Art Directors Club, Communication Arts, Creative Review, Fast Company, How Design, It's Nice That, The New York Times, Skift, and Print Magazine.
She teaches at Cooper Union in New York City, and lives with her husband and daughter in Brooklyn.
